pent my last night in the hospital, but didn’t sleep any better in my new room. Yesterday, I was moved to a room in the hospital’s new wing. It’s very spacious and modern. In fact, I’d stayed in that area during previous visits, so I’m somewhat familiar with the staff there. Since another patient will be moving into my room soon, I was asked to vacate quickly.
I took a shower, then had breakfast. Around 8 am, the medical team came by, disinfected my scar, and applied a fresh dressing. They gave me the prescriptions for my medications, home care, housekeeping help, and also for the scooter. They wished me a speedy recovery before leaving. We’re scheduled to meet again in about a week to remove the stitches, change the dressing, and replace the cast.
At 9:30, my mum came to pick me up, and we headed home, stopping at the pharmacy on the way. The prescription was quite long and a bit complicated: Some medications have to be taken until I’m told when to stop. Others can only be taken up to a specific date. And for some, I have to decide myself, depending on the pain, whether to continue or stop taking them. The trainee pharmacist needed some help figuring out how much to dispense. After standing for 20 minutes, I asked for a chair, using crutches really isn’t easy on the legs!
Back home, I got settled, sorted the mail, and then lay down, quickly drifting off to sleep. Tomorrow, I’m due to receive my new scooter, which will be a huge help day to day. With crutches, even carrying a cup of coffee from the kitchen to the lounge is quite a challenge!
