I didn’t sleep much last night, though I’m not quite sure why, as I had no pain or discomfort. This morning, as usual, the nurse took my vital signs, pulse, blood pressure, and temperature, before I had breakfast and went through my care routine.
The surgical assistant on weekend duty came by to check that all was well. She confirmed I should be able to go home on Monday. Before I leave, she’ll change the bandage on my scar.
I was also told I’ll have to change rooms for reasons related to costs, which I don’t fully understand. I asked the nurse to pass on to management that for these last two nights, I’d prefer to stay put here, even if it means putting up with the noise of staff charging their equipment right outside my door. Still, the decision stands: I have to move tomorrow. It seems even less logical since it will only be for one night. So, I’ll be going back to the second floor, where the service is usually better. Here, the staff seem a bit more indifferent, and I often have to repeat myself several times to get what I need.
My uncle, who’s been closely following my health since my accident in Morocco, called this morning to check in. At 97, he’s still in great shape, which is reassuring.
Tomorrow, an old friend who’s hearing impaired is coming to visit me. He had a hip replacement here a few months ago but needs a second operation in November. So, we’re both “regulars” at this hospital!
Lunch was delicious today: on the menu was venison, a cutlet of roe deer with a quince sauce. The meals are always good and varied, which I appreciate, even if we’re not exactly in a Michelin-star restaurant. I get to choose from four different menus at each meal.
