Pont-du-Gard – Sète (Ferry)

Following my host’s great advice, I started the day after breakfast with a hike along the Roman remains trail. It was a lovely walk through nature, passing Roman ruins and olive groves, all the way to the highlight: the Pont du Gard. The site is impressive and very well maintained, and I was lucky to encounter few tourists. The Roman aqueduct was built in the first half of the first century.

Around midday, I hit the road again towards Sète, where, before heading to the port, I enjoyed a sea bream.

According to the information, boarding was supposed to start at 2:30 pm, but I had to wait until 5:00 pm! Many motorcyclists boarded, and I chatted with a few of them. Some cars were packed to the brim with luggage. Moroccan traders come to France to buy all kinds of goods to resell back home.

Impressively, there was a cyclist of about 65 years old among the travellers. He was riding from Tangier to south of Agadir, a real tough one!

The GNV Majestic is 30 years old, and it shows! The cabins are spacious (I had a double cabin all to myself), but the ship has seen better days… https://www.gnv.it/en/ferries-destinations/morocco

The next stop is Barcelona, where more passengers will board.

Today, I covered 113 km in 1 hour and 20 minutes.
